Sam and I took a day trip up to Nikko, which is about two hours from Tokyo by bullet train and then local train into the mountains. It was only a half-day trip, since that was about all I could handle carrying him (the stairs and gravel make this place not stroller-friendly), but we had a nice time seeing the most ornate carvings. You could not photograph some of the most impressive things, but here is a little sampling of what we (and about a thousand elementary school kids) saw. Needless to say, the highlight of the day for Mr. Sam came when we returned to Tokyo and he got to watch the puppies at the store near our apartment.
Samuel Charles Kietlinski joined our family on July 18, 2009. This blog is for our friends and family all over the world to watch him grow!
